Established in 2002 the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation plays a pivotal role in the permanent protection of the moraine. It has leveraged $38 million for on-the-ground stewardship and restoration projects. Despite the urgent need for on-going support, the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation funding is in jeopardy. Send an urgent message to the Premier to fund the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation now during this next budget cycle.

The Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation’s Measuring Success Project confirmed what many have suspected: headwater streams are not as healthy as they should be; and forest interior and grassland habitat are declining which is bad news for vulnerable bird species. This prompted the ORMF to submit a request to the Province, through the Environmental Commissioner’s Office, for an early review of the policies that are supposed to protect the moraine. Learn more and support the early review of the moraine’s policies.

The millions of litres of water pumped daily out of the moraine are poorly monitored so nobody really knows how much water is being taken. We need more stringent rules and procedures to make sure that the moraine’s water will be there for future generations too. Support the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation’s request to the province to review, in advance of 2015, the policies that are supposed to protect the moraine.

Hundreds of thousands of truckloads of fill (i.e., dirt from construction sites) continue to be dumped on the moraine, some of it contaminated. Small municipalities don’t have the capacity to monitor, regulate or control dumping in their communities. Support the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation’s request to the province to review, in advance of 2015, the policies that are supposed to protect the moraine.

Roads, pipes and utility lines continue to carve up the Moraine and some projects are even exempted from the protection policies of the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation. Support the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation’s request to the province to review, in advance of 2015, the policies that are supposed to protect the moraine.

Small landowners, farmers and research groups find they cannot make even small changes on their property and yet new aggregate pits and golf courses are permitted in parts of the moraine. Support the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation’s request to the province to review, in advance of 2015, the policies that are supposed to protect the moraine.

A decade later old development (i.e., golf courses and subdivisions) can still be built, even in natural core areas. Support the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation’s request to the province to review, in advance of 2015, the policies that are supposed to protect the moraine.
